Urgent Team Walk-In Urgent Care Opens In Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Dec. 11, 2017) Urgent Team, one of the Southeast’s largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers, has opened in Huntsville at 900 Bob Wallace Ave., suite 104, near Whole Foods.

This new urgent care center provides urgent and family care, as well as wellness services, on a walk-in basis. The center treats pain and conditions that are non-life threatening. With no appointment needed and open seven days a week, Urgent Team treats a variety of medical conditions and needs, including:

  • Asthma and allergies
  • Bites, stings, allergic reactions
  • Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting
  • Ear and Eye injuries
  • Burns, immunizations and vaccinations
  • Flu, colds and viral illnesses
  • Sprains, strains, broken bones
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin conditions
  • School, sports and wellness physicals
  • Occupational Health services

The Urgent Team Family of Centers provide quality and affordable family healthcare in four states at 33 locations with four brands. The company currently has an urgent care center in Muscle Shoals and will open in Florence in mid-March 2018.

“Huntsville continues to be a fast-growing community and providing convenient and affordable care for urgent but non-emergency needs is a primary focus we are intent on providing throughout Alabama,” said Urgent Team CEO and Chairman Tom Dent. “Urgent care is quicker and less expensive than an emergency room for receiving treatment for pain or conditions that are nonlife-threatening.”

Leading the team are Nurse Practitioners David Barraza and Bettie Smith. Smith, who has more than 30 years of nursing experience most recently worked at Madison Hospital and Huntsville Hospital. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science from the University of Huntsville after almost 20 years of serving as a charge nurse and certified nursing assistant, before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Barraza joins the team from Gill Family Practice in Decatur, where he coordinated care for patients ranging from physical exams to treating patients with chronic and acute illnesses. He, too, earned his Master of Science in Nursing as well as his Bachelor of Science from University of Huntsville, and also served in the U.S.  Marine Reserves.

“We’re very excited to have these experienced caregivers on our team,” said Urgent Team Division Vice President Nancy Becker. “Bettie’s nursing experience, ranging from emergency rooms to hospice care will make her such an asset to our team, and David’s background in clinics and family care will serve our patients well.”

Both locations in Huntsville and Muscle Shoals are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Most insurance plans, including TRICARE, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as cash and credit card, are accepted.
