Huntsville Hospital and Urgent Team Family of Urgent Care & Walk-in Centers Combine Healthcare Expertise

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (Nov. 8, 2019) – Huntsville Hospital Health System and Urgent Team Family of Urgent Care & Walk-In Centers have announced a joint venture partnership which will create a branded network of walk-in urgent and family care centers throughout North Alabama.

Beginning December 2, Urgent Team Walk-In Urgent Care locations in Decatur, Florence, Huntsville, Muscle Shoals, and Madison will be rebranded as Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care centers. All of the centers are open seven days a week and provide treatment for injuries, illnesses and conditions that are urgent, but non-life threatening. Walk-ins are welcome or for added convenience, patients are able to schedule a same day or next day visit online. Most insurance plans are accepted, including TRICARE, VA, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as cash and credit cards.

Since 1895, Huntsville Hospital has grown to be the second largest hospital in Alabama. The cornerstone of this community-based, not-for-profit hospital is a concentration on patient-centered, quality-focused processes, which lead to optimum healthcare outcomes. As a progressive healthcare leader in Alabama, Huntsville Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission and its services, programs and patient outcomes have received numerous accolades over the years.

Urgent Team Family of Centers is one of the largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers in the Southeast. The Family of Centers, with soon-to-be 60-plus centers in five states, provide a range of health services including treatments for injuries and illnesses, occupational health and wellness care.

This exciting initiative will expand our non-emergency, walk-in services,” said Huntsville Hospital Health System Chief Operating Officer Jeff Samz. “As a leading regional health system in North Alabama, the expertise of our strong reputation for clinical care and service combined with Urgent Team’s proficiency in offering a quality, patient experience in a retail setting, further positions our health system to become the leading on-demand network in North Alabama. The partnership helps fill the gap in consumer and employer health demand for a retail value experience for every day healthcare needs.

Urgent Team Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Tom Dent expressed his enthusiasm: “It is our honor to partner with this forward-thinking health system. Urgent Team and Huntsville Hospital are trusted leaders in offering health services that combine quality, convenience, cost, and exceptional patient experience.”

According to the Urgent Care Association, conveniently located urgent care centers have become an essential part of patient care and are at the epicenter of transformative changes occurring in the U.S. healthcare market. “Our communities want and deserve convenience and value when making healthcare choices,” Samz explained. “Healthcare consumers increasingly expect a responsive delivery of services with simplified and integrated care pathways. As patients continue to shoulder more of the cost of care, this joint venture will result in a network of conveniently located urgent care centers that will provide quality care at a lower cost than other options. Urgent Team is a leader in the urgent care sector and this strategic partnership is an example of their commitment to greater care integration for patients.”

This partnership expands the Urgent Team Family of Centers to six brands in five states: Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care, Washington Regional Urgent Care, Urgent Team, Sherwood Urgent Care, Baptist Health Urgent Care, and Physicians Care.
