Tom S. Dent has spent his career in health care delivery innovation, developing better value and pathways for people to access care when and where they need it. He has been involved in a variety of healthcare sectors including managing hospitals, outpatient services and leading national and international companies.
As a healthcare leader, Dent has earned an industry reputation for building quality teams and companies with a focus on outcomes and service value and understanding the needs of patients in a complex and changing medical environment. He has developed and managed numerous health system partnerships and ventures to improve the integration of the healthcare service continuum.
In addition to his Urgent Team leadership, Dent is Lead Director of HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTM), the healthcare industry’s largest ecosystem of platform-delivered workforce solutions empowering healthcare professionals delivery of patient care excellence. In recognition of his contributions to healthcare innovation, Dent was awarded the LaingBuisson UK Healthcare Entrepreneur Achievement Award in 2013. He is also Chairman of the Re:Cognition Brain and Mind Foundation, a registered charitable incorporated organization in England and Wales.
Previously, Dent served as CEO of an international diagnostic imaging and outpatient surgery company. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and a 15-year executive leader of PhyCor, Inc., a pioneering organization in physician practice and network management. Throughout his career, he has developed occupational health clinics, launched mobile imaging services, and managed several hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. Earlier in his professional journey, he worked in mergers and acquisitions at Hospital Corporation of America and was a founding board member of Healthcare Realty Trust, a healthcare-focused real estate investment trust (REIT).
Dent graduated with a bachelor’s business degree from Mississippi State University and holds a master’s degree from The George Washington University.
