Q: Why did you decide to go in to the medical field?
A: I have always loved to help people. I realized early in school I enjoyed science, too. Practicing medicine was the perfect way to blend those two passions.
Q: What excites you about providing care in Springfield?
A: Springfield is my hometown. I have lived here since I was 5 years old. Every day I have an opportunity to help improve the quality of life for my family, friends, and neighbors. I can’t think of a better profession to give me that opportunity.
Q: How long have you been a provider in Springfield?
A: 2017 marked my 15th year in practice! I returned home to Springfield in 2002 after completing my medical school education and residency training in Family Medicine.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a medical provider in your hometown?
A: People say it isn’t easy to come home to practice medicine. I have found it to be quite the opposite. People trust us to make them feel better. They trust we will do our best. As long as we strive to meet that goal, everyone benefits. If I can just do my part in my small sphere of influence for Springfield, then I will look back fondly over my career and be content.
Q: What do you like most about being a medical provider?
A: Practicing medicine allows my staff and me an opportunity to help people when they don’t feel well. We have a chance to show compassion, empathy, and concern for our patients.
Q: What is your philosophy for patient care?
A: Patients come first. In the complex world of modern medicine, that is often lost. When my staff and I take the perspective of what is best for the patient’s needs, I think we succeed in caring very well for our patients.
Q: What is one thing you would like to share with your patients?
A: I have been amazed by how supportive Springfield has been to me and my family. Also, we are very proud to have an office staff who represents the people in our service area and who understand our philosophy of working hard on behalf of our patients.
