Urgent Care or Emergency Care?

Tips for determining where to get the care you need

It’s Sunday afternoon and you aren’t feeling well.  You’ve been dealing with the sniffles for a few days and now you have a low-grade fever and are aching all over. Where can you go for relief from your symptoms? Do you go to the emergency room or an urgent care center?

A lot of people grapple with this decision.  For immediate or after-hours care on a walk-in basis, a visit to an urgent care center is an excellent option when you are experiencing a mild illness or injury such as low-grade fever, minor strains, respiratory illness, a cut that may need stitches or a UTI. Unless it is a life-threatening emergency, urgent care is often the most cost-effective and convenient option. All Baptist Urgent Care centers are open seven days a week.  Walk-ins are always welcome or for added convenience, plan a same- or next-day visit online with Hold My Spot® or reserve a Virtual Health visit. We also offer advanced diagnostics such as X-ray and some lab testing capabilities onsite.

Urgent care should not be considered a replacement for emergency care, which remains the best option for emergency, life-threatening situations.

The professional staff at Baptist Urgent Care continues to provide our dependable, quality health care in a safe and clean environment. Whether the need is urgent care, wellness care, family care or occupational health—we’ve got you covered.
