Baptist Health continues to expand access to healthcare by announcing the opening of its third urgent care center, which will be located in Jacksonville across 167 from Wal-Mart 1813 T.P. White Drive.
Baptist Health, in a joint venture with Urgent Team, one of the Southeast’s largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers, currently has urgent care centers in North Little Rock and Bryant.
“We’re very excited to expand urgent care services to the residents in Jacksonville,” said Troy Wells, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “Providing convenient access and affordable care for urgent, but non-emergency needs, is a strategic focus we are intent on providing in Arkansas.”
The new urgent care center in Jacksonville opens Jan. 30 and will provide urgent and family care, as well as wellness services on a walk-in basis. Experienced primary care providers Chad Sherwood, M.D., and Pamela Speed, nurse practitioner, will lead the team. Dr. Sherwood, currently serves as Urgent Team’s Chief Medical Officer in Arkansas. Speed has more than 25 years of experience in rural healthcare and most recently worked at Sherwood Urgent Care in Searcy, an affiliate of Urgent Team.
“We’re honored to partner with such a highly-respected healthcare organization,” said Mike Dupuis, Urgent Team division vice president. “Our goal is to meet the growing patient expectation for quality care delivered in a convenient location at an affordable price.”
Baptist Health’s expansion into urgent care provides unscheduled access to care for patients, as well as supports Baptist Health physicians who want to provide an after-hours option to their patients. While an individual’s primary care provider should be the main choice since the physicians knows the patient’s entire medical history, sometimes immediate care is needed.
Urgent care is also quicker and less expensive than an emergency room for receiving care for pain or conditions that are nonlife-threatening. With no appointment needed, patients are seen on a walk-in basis for a variety of medical needs, including:
• Asthma and allergies • Flu, colds and viral illnesses
• Bites, stings, allergic reactions • Sprains, strains, broken bones
• Diarrhea, nausea and vomiting • Urinary tract infections
• Ear and Eye injuries • Skin conditions
• Burns • School, sports and wellness physicals
• Immunizations and vaccinations
Baptist Health Urgent Care-Jacksonville is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Most insurance plans, including TRICARE, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as cash and credit card are accepted.
